Spoiler-free Review:

Rating: ★★★★☆
Each time our lips met, a renewed energy surged through the contact.

Embers in the Sea is the third book in the Fire in the Woods series by Jennifer M. Eaton; there may possibly be some minor spoilers from the previous two books in this review, however I always do my best to keep my reviews spoiler-free. I loved the previous books in this series and highly recommend you pick them up if you love out of this world romance!

Embers in the Sea starts up two years after the ending of Ashes in the Sky. I was so completely in love with Jess & David after the last book that I wasn’t sure what to expect this time around. Jess is in college now and hasn’t heard a peep in two years about David, Erescopians, or the progress on terraforming Mars. Suddenly she is thrust back into a spaceship when David unexpectedly shows up on her campus trying to protect her from possible annihilation by the Erescopians looking for a new planet to inhabit. Here’s the thing: David successfully created oceans on Mars however, it seems he cannot make the oceans live and create rain. In turn this means all his hard work has been fruitless and the humans on Earth are at risk again, because the aliens are impatient and running out of food, ready to settle on a planet that can support their needs.

As with the last two books, David concocts a plan in order to try and save Earth from his species. Jess, of course, isn’t about to be left aside after waiting for two years to even hear from him. She ends up joining David on his dangerous mission to discover the source of energy in the deepest fathoms of the ocean to see if it can be replicated to create a successful atmosphere on Mars for his people. And then the action begins! Like killer action! There is immediate danger and an overall sense of impending doom and urgency for David & Jess to succeed in finding the source.

Once the journey took to the sea, I was completely blown away by Jennifer Eaton’s imagination. Her writing is compelling and thrilling. Honestly the romance is so intense, yet pure of heart. I absolutely love the way the author can make me connect to these characters! The author’s vision of the ocean is vivid and wildly represented in what is truly the biggest alien aspects of this story. Otherwise, what dwells in the depths of our oceans that no one has ever seen before. Eaton forces you to suspend some scientific beliefs, but once again if you are reading this for the science, an alien/human forbidden love romance probably isn’t the book for you.

The characters and their chemistry is what stands out in Embers in the Sea! Sure there is action, adventure, and a sense of impending doom, but I absolutely love Jess & David’s relationship, their banter, and their compatibility. It can’t be easy being in love and having the barriers between them. Also, we have Edgar, the coolest alien ever! Seriously, thank goodness for Edgar, he saved Jess & David numerous times throughout this series.

I can’t even believe the ending! Since this is the first book in this series to end on a cliffhanger, I can only assume that there is another book of adventure for Jess, David & crew. I recommend this book for fans of forbidden romance, thrilling adventure, and out of this world action.

When a plane crashes in the woods near Jess’s home, the boy of her dreams falls out of the sky—literally.

But David’s not here to find a girlfriend. He’s from another planet, and if Jess can’t help him get back to his ship, he’ll be stuck on Earth with nothing to look forward to but the pointy end of a dissection scalpel. But her father runs their house like an army barracks. and with an alien on the loose, Major Dad isn’t too keen on the idea of Jess going anywhere.

Ever.

So how the heck is she supposed to help the sweetest, strangest, and cutest guy she’s ever met? Hiding him in her room probably isn’t the best idea. Especially since her Dad is in charge of the squadron searching for David.

That doesn’t mean she won’t do it.

It just means she can’t get caught. Helping David get home while protecting her heart—that’s gonna be the hard part.\

After all, she can’t really fall for a guy whose not exactly from here. As they race through the woods with Major Dad and most of the U.S. military one breath behind them, Jess and David grow closer than either of them anticipated. But all is not what it seems. David has a genocide-sized secret, and one betrayal later, they are both in handcuffs as alien warships are positioning themselves around the globe. Time is ticking down to Armageddon, and Jess must think fast if she’s to save the boy she cares about without sacrificing Earth—and everyone on it.

FIRE IN THE WOODS is Star-Crossed meets Close Encounters of the Third Kind!

Ashes in the Sky (Fire In The Woods #2)

After inadvertently saving the world, eighteen-year-old Jessica Martinez is ready to put adventure behind her and settle back into the familiar routine of high school.

Though when she’s offered an opportunity to photograph the inside of an alien space ship, Jess jumps at the chance. After all, she’d be crazy to turn something like that down, right?

Spending time with David on the ship has definite advantages and the two seem to pick up right where they left off. But when Jess discovers a plot to sabotage David’s efforts to establish a new home for his people on another planet, neither David’s advanced tech nor Jess’s smarts will be able to save them.

ASHES IN THE SKY is an action-packed, romantic Sci Fi adventure that will leave readers screaming for more.

Autho Bio: Jennifer M. Eaton

Jennifer M. Eaton hails from the eastern shore of the North American Continent on planet Earth. Yes, regrettably, she is human, but please don’t hold that against her. While not traipsing through the galaxy looking for specimens for her space moth collection, she lives with her wonderfully supportive husband and three energetic offspring. (And a poodle who runs the spaceport when she’s not around.)

During infrequent excursions to her home planet of Earth, Jennifer enjoys long hikes in the woods, bicycling, swimming, snorkeling, and snuggling up by the fire with a great book; but great adventures are always a short shuttle ride away.

Who knows where we’ll end up next?
