Audiobook Review: Daughter of the Pirate King by Tricia Levenseller

Daughter of the Pirate King by Tricia Levenseller was released earlier this year & I loved it! I recently listened to the audiobook and I realized I have never reviewed this title so I figured there’s no better time. I can’t recommend this book enough and audiobooks are becoming my lifeblood.

There will be plenty of time for me to beat him soundly once I’ve gotten what I came for.

Sent on a mission to retrieve an ancient hidden map—the key to a legendary treasure trove—seventeen-year-old pirate captain Alosa deliberately allows herself to be captured by her enemies, giving her the perfect opportunity to search their ship.

More than a match for the ruthless pirate crew, Alosa has only one thing standing between her and the map: her captor, the unexpectedly clever and unfairly attractive first mate, Riden. But not to worry, for Alosa has a few tricks up her sleeve, and no lone pirate can stop the Daughter of the Pirate King.

Review:

Rating: ★★★★½
“Oh, the ridiculous things one has to do when one is a pirate.”

Daughter of the Pirate King was such a fun read! When you need an entertaining and escapist read, I highly recommend. I was washed away from the real world and enveloped into the world of pirates on the high seas.

Alosa, is the daughter of the pirate king, but she herself is a pirate, a captain of her own ship, and has a crew all of her own. When she is sent on a mission to retrieve a map from a rival pirate crew, she arranges her capture.

If only she knew how frustrating the first mate would be. Riden constantly foils her plans and the snarky and witty banter between these two is just perfection. The romance builds naturally and feels so right.

All the adventure and romance was perfectly on point and exciting! I was not expecting the twist at about 50% and that brought in a whole new element to the second half of the story. I found this to be surprising, yet well done! It also sets up for the sequel and I can’t wait!

The narrator, Marisa Calin, had the perfect voice, tone and inflection. She really provided such a great experience to the book. Audiobooks are quickly becoming my favorite way to consume books and I was not disappointed.

Daughter of the Pirate King was not only fun but also an asskicking story! I really loved just about everything and I hope you give this book a read!

That’s so good to hear, because the banter in that book is the best!
